When this work is needed
A structural fire-protection coating project needs an agreed design basis, substrate information and a clear inspection and application scope. Existing coatings may require investigation before remedial work can be priced.
Typical projects
- Coating works to a specified structural-steel package
- Assessment of documented coating defects
- Planned refurbishment affecting existing structural protection
What needs to be established
Provide the structural schedule, specified performance and available coating records. The specialist should establish system compatibility, preparation, application conditions, inspection requirements and the records to be supplied. PFL does not calculate required coating thickness or design the protection system.
A useful starting brief
Structural drawings, specified performance, existing coating records and site conditions.
Add the town, UK nation, building use, procurement stage and intended timescale. Unknown quantities and budgets can be clarified later.
